Long Arm Quilting

Long Arm Quilting Services

I am currently accepting quilts for computerized edge to edge quilting. I am using an Innova Longarm with the AutoPilot Mach3 computer system on an eleven foot wide frame.

Pricing

Quilting service costs 2.5 cents per square inch.  For example, if your quilt top is 60 x 70, that is 4,200 square inches. The cost for quilting would be $105.00  (60×70=4,200 and 4,200×0.025=105)

There is a $10 charge for standard poly thread on each quilt ($5 for baby quilts or smaller). Metallic or other specialty thread is $25 per quilt.

I have a minimum charge of $60 per quilt.

Quilt Back and Batting

Batting and Backing needs to be a minimum of 8″ wider and 8″ longer than your top.   For example, if your top is 60 x 70, you need batting and backing that is 68 x 78.  The extra allows me to have the needed room to attach your quilt to the longarm frame. You can supply the batting for your top or get it from me. I carry Warm & Natural Cotton (90″ wide) batting for $11.99/yard and Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Cotton Blend (96″ wide) batting for $9.99/yard.

Quilt preparation

Your quilt top and backing need to be pressed and free of stray threads. It is helpful to sew around the edges of your top about 1/8″ away from the edges to prevent seams from coming open when loaded on the frame. Please make sure that your backing does not contain selvages in the seams because the selvages don’t act the same as the rest of your quilt fabric and can cause unsightly bumps and puckers in your quilt. Selvages on the outer edges are fine and preferred to leave in place. Please remove all pins or embellishments that cannot be stitched over before bringing me your quilt.

Your backing fabric must have straight edges on all sides and all four corners must be 90 degree corners.

If your quilt top or backing is directional, please mark the top with a safety pinned note.

Trimming and binding

I can trim your quilt after it’s quilted if you would like. There is a charge of $20 to trim. I will return all excess backing fabric and batting to you along with your quilt.

Binding can be applied to your quilt after quilting. I only attach binding to the quilt (front and back) by machine. The cost is $30/hour and you will be charged for the actual time it takes to make/apply the binding.

Payment

Payment needs to be made in full before your quilt is delivered. I accept cash, check, and PayPal.

Finished quilts will not be released until full payment is made. Quilts left with August Lane beyond 30 days after quilting is completed may be sold to settle the account.
